What We Believe:
The Word of God
We believe the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the inspired Word of God, inerrant in the original writings, complete as the revelation of God’s will for salvation, and the supreme authority in all matters to which they speak.
The Trinity
We believe in one God, creator and sustainer of all things, eternally existing in three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit; that they are equal in every divine perfection and that they execute distinct and harmonious offices in the work of creation, providence, and redemption.
God The Father
We believe in God the Father, an infinite, personal Spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power and love. We believe He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of men, that He hears and answers prayer, and that He saves from sin and death all who come to Him through Jesus Christ.
God The Son
We believe that Jesus Christ is God’s eternal Son, and has precisely the same nature, attributes and perfections as God the Father and God the Holy Spirit. We believe further, that He is not only true God, but true man, conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. We also believe in His sinless life, His substitutionary atonement, His bodily resurrection from the dead, His ascension into heaven, His priestly intercession on behalf of His people, and His personal, visible, return from heaven.
God The Holy Spirit
We believe in the person of the Holy Spirit, and His work in regeneration, sanctification and preservation of His chosen ones. His ministry is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ, and to implement Christ’s work of redeeming the lost. The Holy Spirit gifts and empowers every believer for godly living and service.
Humanity
We believe that humanity, male and female, every race and ethnicity, is sacred in God’s eyes and was uniquely created by Him, in His image and for His glory, to exercise dominion over the earth and to enjoy a relationship with Him forever. Every human being is ultimately responsible to God in matters of faith and life. Though ruined by sin, human beings still bear the image of God; human life is therefore sacred, for which reason, human beings are different from the rest of God’s creatures. God’s will for humanity is that, in relationship with Him, they love the Lord their God with all their heart, soul, mind, and strength, and love their neighbors as themselves.
Marriage and Family
We believe that God established the institution of family through the union of one man and one woman in a marriage covenant for life; that in God’s design for humanity, life begins at conception; that His design for the continuance of humanity is through the procreation and discipleship of children within the marriage union; and that marriage is to be an example of the relationship between Jesus Christ and His Church.
Sin and Death
We believe that sin is any disobedience to God. Since sin entered the world by the disobedience of Adam, death and separation from God falls upon every person descended from Adam. Because every person is by nature and practice a sinner, and because sin brings death and separation from God, salvation is absolutely essential for eternal life with God.
Salvation
We believe in salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ; that this salvation is based upon the sovereign grace of God; that it was purchased by Christ on the cross; that it is received through faith, apart from any human merit, works, or ritual; and that salvation results in righteous living, good works and biblically informed actions to bring about godly justice wherever we live.
The Church
We believe that the Church is the spiritual body of which Jesus Christ is the head; that the true Church is composed of all persons who through saving faith in Jesus Christ have been regenerated by the Holy Spirit; that this body expresses itself in local assemblies whose members have been immersed upon a credible confession of faith and who have associated themselves for worship, for instruction, for evangelism and for service. We believe the ordinances of the local church are believer’s baptism by immersion and the Lord’s Supper. We also believe in the interdependence of local churches and the mutual submission of believers to each other out of reverence to Christ in love.
Christian Conduct
We believe that the supreme task for every believer is to glorify and enjoy God in this life and forever; that personal conduct should be blameless before our ever-present God of grace; that believers should be faithful stewards of the abilities and possessions entrusted to them by our generous Lord; and that all believers should seek to realize in their own life the maturity of the character of Christ living in them.
Separation of Church and State
We believe that each local church is self-governing, and must be free from interference by any external ecclesiastical or political authority; that every human being is ultimately responsible to God in matters of faith and life; and that each person is free to worship God according to the dictates of his/her conscience. We further believe that governments are established by God; that Christians, as good citizens, should be subject to governing authorities insofar as possible, recognizing our greater allegiance to God and His kingdom in matters wherein human authorities conflict with clear, biblical mandates.
Last Things
We believe in the bodily resurrection of the saved and lost; in divine judgments leading to punishments or rewards. We further believe in the eternal existence of all human beings, either in hell or in the new heavens and new earth.
